RV upgrades Suggestions for all DIY rv’s

Overview

The Pace Arrow 35G motorhome offers a versatile platform for upgrades that enhance comfort, reliability, and travel efficiency. I have made several improvements and adjustments to my motorhome to make it more effecient and comfortable. Where appropriate, recommendations distinguish between DIY-friendly improvements and tasks that typically require professional assistance.

Common upgrade categories

Electrical and power management

Heating, cooling, and insulation

  • Insulation upgrades: Improve window and door seals, add reflective or thermal window coverings, and inspect roof seams to reduce heat loss or gain.
  • HVAC efficiency: Service the existing furnace and, if feasible, upgrade to a higher-efficiency model or add a portable area heater for supplemental warmth where appropriate.
  • Ventilation: Install or upgrade roof vents with better seals, add a powered vent fan in the bathroom, and consider a second vent for improved airflow in living areas.

Plumbing and water systems

  • Water filtration and sanitation: Add a portable or inline water filtration system to improve water quality and appliance longevity.
  • Water heating optimization: If the RV uses a propane or electric water heater, ensure it is serviced and tested for efficiency; consider accessories that speed up hot water recovery.
  • Grey/black water management: Upgrade to more efficient tank level sensors or install a clearer indicator system to simplify monitoring and reduce unwanted overflows.
  • Water pump and lines: Inspect for leaks, upgrade pump flow if necessary, and replace aging hoses with durable, RV-rated equivalents.

Interior comfort and ergonomics

  • Seating and sleeping comfort: Upgrade cushions, add memory-foam inserts, or install a high-quality mattress topper to improve restfulness on long journeys.
  • Kitchen and storage: Install modular organizers, improved pantry solutions, and soft-close cabinet hardware to maximize space usability.
  • Soundproofing: Add weatherstripping and door sweeps where possible to reduce road noise and improve overall quiet inside the living area.
  • Insulation and climate control: Improve curtain insulation and consider a portable climate control unit for zones that experience different temperatures.

Safety, security, and monitoring

  • Fire and carbon monoxide protection: Verify detectors are functional and consider upgrading to interconnected units with long-life sensors.
  • Backup camera and awareness: If not already present, install a rear-view or 360-degree camera system to enhance maneuvering safety.
  • Tire and vehicle safety: Upgrade tires to RV-rated specifications, rotate regularly, and maintain proper pressure; consider a TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) for continuous monitoring.
  • Fire extinguishers and emergency gear: Ensure accessibility of extinguishers, first-aid kits, and a written emergency plan.

Exterior and storage optimizations

  • Exterior storage solutions: Install locking, weather-resistant storage bins or organizers to maximize available space and protect valuables.
  • Awnings and shade: Upgrade or service awnings for smooth operation; consider shade solutions that reduce solar heat gain and improve privacy.
  • Roof maintenance: Inspect and reseal roof seams, vents, and skylights to prevent leaks and extend the roof’s lifespan.
  • Aerodynamics and weight: Review load distribution and remove unnecessary items to optimize fuel efficiency and handling.

Maintenance planning and budgeting

  • Diagnostic approach: Create a maintenance calendar that includes annual inspections of the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Budget tiers: Establish a phased upgrade plan—essential, recommended, and optional enhancements—to manage cash flow and ensure core systems remain reliable.
  • Documentation: Keep records of all upgrades, part numbers, installation dates, and warranties for future reference and resale value.

Planning and execution tips

  • Compatibility assessment: Verify that new components are compatible with the Pace Arrow 35G’s electrical system, fuel, and overall weight constraints.
  • Professional guidance: For complex upgrades—such as high-capacity electrical systems, propane integration, or significant plumbing changes—consult a qualified technician.
  • Safety first: Disconnect power before servicing electrical components, depressurize propane systems when required, and wear appropriate protective gear during installations.

Quick-start upgrade checklist

  • Assess current electrical capacity and plan a staged upgrade if needed
  • Inspect insulation and seals around windows, doors, and roof penetrations
  • Review water system health and install filtration as desired
  • Upgrade lighting to LEDs and install dimmers where suitable
  • Evaluate storage organization and implement modular solutions
  • Verify safety detectors and emergency equipment are up to date
  • Create a maintenance schedule and budget for upcoming improvements

Note: This guide provides a structured approach to upgrading a Pace Arrow 35G motorhome. Prioritize tasks that improve reliability and safety, and pursue professional installation for systems exceeding your technical comfort or local regulatory requirements.

Pistachio Nuts

I found fiddyment pistachio nut the best choice for me. The 3lb. bag of unsalted pistachios are the ones that I purchase the most. There are times that the lightly salted pistachios work for me also. I found that the Fiddyment brand ar the preferred ones for me. I have tried other brands, but the Fiddyment brand seems the best in my opion.

Middle Buster

I purchased a middle buster for the purpose of making small trenches on my property to allow rain water to drain off the property. When it rains here in SC it can be pretty heavy. In fact Last night we had 1.25 inches in about 2hours. This middle buster has done what I needed to do. You can see more about this on my page called Middle Buster where I have pictures and more descriptions. Middle buster page.
